Just a Fact About Duct Tape

In the 1940s, Vesta Stoudt, an employee at an ammunition packing plant in Illinois and a mother with two boys in the Navy, wrote a letter to president Franklin D. Roosevelt suggesting that ammunition cases be sealed with a “strong cloth tape.” The U.S. military then asked Johnson & Johnson to create a waterproof, cloth-based tape and “duck tape” was created. During the postwar building boom, “duck tape” became “duct tape,” when its chief use became taping heating ducts.

What is a Greeting Cake?

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

I decided that it would be a fun idea to show what is inside of a Greeting Cake.
If you go to my shopping page, you will see a link to purchase Greeting Cakes.
What is a Greeting Cake, you are probably asking. Well, it is a 4 inch round, individual cake kit. On the top is a sort of “greeting card sentiment” for any occasion you might be able to think of: birthdays, weddings, achievements, etc.
Everything you need to enjoy the cake is inside the container. All you have to do is add water and microwave!
There is a packet of the cake mix, a packet of frosting, a little spoon for enjoying, a cup for measuring the water, one candle, instructions on how to prepare your cake, and of course some confetti just for fun.
They also offer “Cup Cakes” which are a similar idea, but come in a mug. You can also purchase just the cake mix to put in your own mug.
And there are also a couple of care packages available, with a cake and some other yummy snacks, that you can send to your starving college student or anyone else that needs a pick me up.

Finished the Duct Tape 911 book. Review and interview with the author soon!

The Book Has Arrived

20140706_121638I got this in the mail and am looking forward to reading it, reviewing it and even interviewing the author.

Also, I was amused because the envelope had duct tape on it as well. =)

Sorry!

I’ve been a busy little bee lately and haven’t been able to post anything.  I promise I will be updating soon. On the horizon: a book review, a couple of almost completed projects, and maybe some fun surprises!

I Won! I Won!

I have been entering giveaways on other blogs just for the heck of it, hoping that I might eventually win one.

And guess what? I just found out that I did! And it’s a pretty big one, but I will have to go to Colorado to use it.

I won a 1/2 day rafting trip from DIY Made Simple.

Woot Woot!

I Got the Duct Tape Scissors!

I did get the chance to pick up the Fiskars scissors I posted about, that are specifically made for cutting duct tape.

I haven’t gotten to use them yet, but I’m looking forward to it!

Book Reviews Coming!

I’ve decided to post a couple of book reviews here for fun. I have to read the books first though!

The first one will be Duct Tape 911: The Many Amazing Medical Things You Can Do to Tape Yourself Together by James Hubbard, MD. The doctor is mailing me a copy of the book and I also planning on interviewing him about the book when I am done.

And then, just for fun, I am also going to read and review a fiction piece, Murder at the Art and Craft Fair by Steve Demaree.
