Book Review: A Most Inconvenient Marriage by Regina Jennings

I received a copy of this book from Bethany House in order to facilitate this review.

In 1865, Abigail Stuart is working as a nurse in St. Louis, caring for dying Confederate prisoners when she is proposed to by  a soldier named Jeremiah Calhoun who asks her to take care of his farm, his fiance and his family.

As Abigail essentially has no family of her own, she accepts his proposal, and after his death, heads to Jeremiah’s hometown. She is quickly accepted by his mother an hes to care for his sister, who has rheumatic fever. She even meets his fiance, who seems to have moved on.

Just as she is settling in to the family, a man shows up claiming to be Jeremiah Calhoun.

Now of course I can’t tell you what happens from there. But I can tell you that you will love this book if you are a fan of romance of the more innocent variety. You are definitely left guessing what will happen until the very end. I look forward to reading more from this author.

Happy Holidays

I got some new duct tape for Christmas so I should have some new duct tape posts soon

The Lumo Project: The Gospel of John Review

I was recently given the opportunity to review the film The Gospel of John presented by The Lumo Project.

First, here is what they say about the movie.

About the film:
The Gospel of John takes the story of Jesus from John’s gospel with its own unique characteristics. For John, Jesus is the Word of God made human. John is clear that that when encounter Jesus, we encounter God. The gospel writer points to the miracles (the ‘Signs’) and teachings as evidence of Jesus’ special relationship as the divine Son of God.

This full-length feature film about the life of Jesus takes the actual Gospel text as its script, word for word, unedited. Five years in the making, this epic production has been critically acclaimed by leading religious scholars as a unique and highly authentic telling of the Jesus story. Narrated by leading British actor David Harewood (‘Homeland’, ‘Blood Diamond’, ‘Merchant of Venice’) it is based on the latest theological, historical and archaeological research. With specially constructed sets and the extraordinarily authentic villages and countryside of rural Morocco, it immerses the viewer in the world of first century Palestine.
A ground breaking, multi-language biblical film resource transforming the way we discover, study and engage with the life of Jesus through the four New Testament Gospels.
The Lumo Project is a ground breaking, multi-language biblical film resource transforming the way we discover, study and engage with the life of Jesus through the four New Testament Gospels: redefining the standard of visual Biblical media. The Lumo Project presents four films – one for each Gospel account – that will revolutionise the way we all experience the story of Jesus and the world of First Century Palestine in which he lived.

i very much enjoyed the fact that there multiple versions to choose from: New International Version, King James Version, and Spanish. I was also very pleased that the actor actually looked like a Jewish man, and all the actors looked…. ethnically authentic, not the European actors you often see in Bible movies.
The scenery and settings were quite beautiful. The entire film is narrated word for word from the text. I have to admit that I spent much of the movie trying to determine what language the actors were actually speaking in in the background. I still don’t know.

The Gospel of John is now available on Netflix. Make sure to follow their social networking sites to see what’s coming next. Overall, a great film and I look forward to seeing which Gospel is next in line.

SpookyEyes Contact Lenses Review

Well, this is my first review set up via etailPR!

In order to do the review, I received a free pair of SpookyEyes contact lenses. SpookyEyes has a ton of fun Halloween lenses, or anytime lenses if you feel like looking like a zombie or vampire on a regular day.

They do also have some slightly more natural looking choices as well. I personally chose the Blue Shimmer lenses. The color itself is super pretty. They feature a starburst design with a pale ice blue.

As a person who has worn prescription contact lenses before, I was pleasantly surprised at how comfortable and breathable these lenses were.  For me, the obvious downside is that in order to be able to see while wearing them, I would have to wear my glasses over them. Also, they make me eyes look kind of freakishly large, making them difficult to wear on a regular day. But definitely fun for Halloween or some other special occasion.

These particular lenses  are $27.95 with free standard shipping on all orders.

Check out for TONS of great and imaginative designs.
