5 Bands that are Rocking Quarantine

Unfortunately, due to all the quarantine and lock-down and social distancing rules going on right now, live music has suffered tremendously. As a music journalist, I am acutely aware of how this affects not just the fans, but the musicians, their crews, publicists and their families as well. As a result many artists have found ways to still bring the music to the masses in ways that may be a little different from the norm. This is not a list of my favorite artists, and of course there are many others doing awesome things as well, but here are five bands that are definitely making the best of their time when they can’t hit the stage in the usual way.

Clutch

Clutch, along with remote support from Crowbar, Blacktop Mojo and Saul will be streaming a concert entitled Live From the Doom Saloon Volume 1 on May 27th. Tickets for the online event are only $9 and a portion of the proceeds will go to both Angel Flight and Musicares. The show will start live at 4:00 EST and will also be available for On Demand Viewing through Saturday May 30th.

Tickets can be purchased here: www.livefrom.events/DoomSaloon

All Time Low

This band is hosting a livestream acoustic performance to benefit their touring crew, who are obviously not able to work during this time. On May 22nd, the show starts at 5:00 EDT. Tickets are 10 dollars and can be purchased at this link: Tickets:  https://alltimelow.veeps.com

Definitely take some time and check it out if you can!

Dropkick Murphys

Here is a free show! Friday May 29th at 6:00 pm Boston time, Dropkick Murphys will be Streaming Outta Fenway, with a free livestream performance straight from Fenway Park, with no audience in the stands. Also, Bruce Springsteen will be joining the band remotely. How crazy is that?

Although the show is free, the band will be raising funds for Boston Resiliency Fund, Habitat for Humanity and Feeding America. You can DONATE NOW !! TEXT TO DONATE by texting “DONATE” to 404-994-3559.

Kasim Sulton

Kasim Sulton has recorded and performed alongside Todd Rundgren, Utopia, Meat Loaf, Hall & Oates, Joan Jett, and Blue Oyster Cult. On Saturday May 23rd, he is planning to perform a solo outdoor concert as part of the Tupelo Drive-in Music Experience at the Tupelo Drive-in Music Hall in Derry, NH.

Sulton will perform two shows- one at noon and one at 3:00 pm at a price of $75 per carload.

David Ellefson

David Ellefson (Megadeth, Ellefson)  is a super awesome guy that I have interviewed a couple of times myself. Through his David Ellefson Youth Music Foundation, this rocker has been doing a lot of awesome things.

Just one of those things was the Schools Out Initiative, with rock and metal artists giving one-on-one lessons online to students who were affected by schools being closed.

Last month he also hosted an online fundraising event called Oh Say Can You Stream featuring tons of artists, including Alice Copper and DMC. He’s pretty much one of the coolest guys ever. Check out the website or Facebook: http://ellefsonyouthmusicfoundation.org/

So many artists are committed to making sure that live music stays alive in whatever form it can. This is just a short list. What bands have you seen do awesome things during this crazy time? Comment below and let me know!
